01. PARTNERING WITH UNK
St. Teresa’s strengthens UNK, draws students to the campus, and has a profound impact on the learning of “deeper things” at the university.
As higher education continues to evolve in this modern AI era, it could be that meaningful study of what prepares us to be truly human has lost out. Probing philosophy, reading the classics, and talking about what makes us human, what satisfies, and what brings real meaning and joy, seem to be put aside. A vibrant Newman Center helps to fill these gaps.
Some students have told us that they chose UNK because of the Newman Center. For these students, faith is central to their lives and they wanted to be in an environment that would protect, grow and deepen their spiritual life. Many of these students were considering one of the dozen or so “authentically Catholic” colleges across the nation, which are private, expensive, and often far from home. Combining UNK with St. Teresa’s faith activities and programs turned out to be the perfect combination.
UNK’s graduating seniors all take an exit survey before they head off to “the next thing.” Those who were active at the Newman Center report that St. Teresa’s was one of their most meaningful experiences on campus. Our interactions with alums indicate that these feelings only continue to deepen as time goes on.
